  Inevitable versus invited   Freedom at Midnight is an old book. This video shared herein below is relatively an old video, too, which was shot a couple of months before the start of the lockdown. Is there any similarity between them? The book says that being unable to control the chaos partition left India in, the then leadership wanted Britain to take the control of the country back, in essence, invalidating the just gained independence the country.   Our leaders at that time thought they didn’t possess the requisite administrative acumen to bring the terrible situation that ensued partition, under control.  The book argues credibly that the art of administration always differed from taking out processions, demanding independence, raising quit-India slogan etc. That, also, the oratorial mastery or nationalistic fervour is no substitution for the management acumen either.   A specious platter of charity ================== The concept of charity is very much antithetical to the fine principles on which the foundation of modern society should lie. Since charity mostly comes from the excess earned of exploitation by a few at the peril of a majority, it is something to be detested for the plausible bait it invariably is. While donors feel pride in their ability to flaunt magnanimity to fellow beings, what ideally overwhelms the recipients is the feeling of trivialness of life. If ever you looked into the eyes of a donee, you could see the helplessness therein at once. Thus, with all its subtle unsocial elements, charity is just a that far and no more story. Donees will feel that they are destined to be at the mercy of the donor. However, the DNA of slavery deep inside the bones will never let them grasp the actual chemistry of this unsocial dirt. Modi Ji, you deserve to be praised for the farm laws. I know you don’t have any clue of what changes these laws can bring about in social milieus that yearned for such changes for long. And it is high time we all stopped Modi bashing for anything and everything, day in and day out! It won’t do any good except to expand the scope of one more term for him.   Joke This news is wrong and an agenda-driven one when it says someone deliberately fed a pregnant elephant with a cracker-stuffed pineapple. Still worse when communal colours are added to it, shamelessly. Interestingly, in most of the media coverage, the name of the district in which this cruel incident occurred is changed to suit the agenda of a section. Also, there is a concerted effort going all around to vilify the name of the state. Some sections from the state are actively on it, while some stretch their imagination to see if this has any relation with the literacy rate of the state… They all forget it conveniently that the sensitivity of the people in there brought the story out in public while such incidents elsewhere would have passed as a usual thing.   Politics of mockery: If you cannot beat him, laugh at him In what is widely acclaimed as a reprieve to Delhi's ruling Aam Admi Party government, the Delhi High Court last Friday set aside the Election Commission of India's (ECI's) recommendation for  disqualification of 20  of its MLAs for holding the office of profit. The issue in question arose when the government-appointed these legislators as parliamentary secretaries to its ministers in March 2015. A subsequent petition filed in June in the same year before the President challenged the decision of the government. The government then swung into action by enacting the Delhi Member of Legislative Assembly (Removal of Disqualification) (Amendment Bill) 2015, excluding parliamentary secretaries from the  office of profit .
